How to Get the Best Effect

1. Place it 0.5–1.5m from a plain, light-coloured wall
2. Angle upward for a rising sun, downward for a setting one
3. Turn off other lights — white light washes the effect out
4. For photos, stand so the circle falls just off to one side of your face

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the sunset lamp work in a bright room?
No. It needs a dim or dark room to show properly. Competing white light overwhelms the projection.

How far should the lamp be from the wall?
Between 0.5 and 1.5 metres. Closer gives a smaller, sharper circle; further gives a larger, softer glow.

Can I use it as a night light for sleeping?
It's brighter and more directional than a typical night light, so most people find it too strong for sleeping. A soft silicone night light suits that better.

Does it need batteries?
No. It runs on USB power — wall adapter, power bank or laptop port all work.

Does it work on dark or textured walls?
Poorly. Light-coloured smooth walls give the strongest effect; dark or heavily textured surfaces absorb and break up the circle.

How much electricity does it use?
1 watt. Running it four hours a night costs a few cents per month.
